High Plains AG Report Farm Bill 2018


On July 31, U.S. House Agriculture Committee and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Purdue hosted a farm bill listening session in San Angelo, Tx.

After listening to farmers and ranchers in Texas, Committee Chairman Mike Conawary and ranking member Collins Peterson will be at a listening session in Minnesota and then in california.

“These listening sessions are a continuation of the committee’s review of farm bill programs and I’m looking forward to hearing directly from farmers and others impacted by the farm bill,” Collin Peterson said in a news release. “Real world examples of what is, and maybe isn’t, working will help better inform committee members when we begin the task of writing a new farm bill.”

Through social media High Plains AG has gotten the opportunity to have conversations with producers about different programs that will be debated.

Cotten farmers are looking to gain more assistance, on producer in particular commented about support from government loans but not subsidies.
