Kayla has a fascination with peeling back the layers of humanity while investigating the facts for a story. As an intern with CNN in Atlanta, she had the opportunity to help break the news about a family member’s involvement in a toddler death. Kayla has also discovered a recent passion for conveying local human interest stories. “Learning about people and what makes them tick is such an interesting part of this career,” says Conboy.
While Kayla has had the opportunity to live in five states growing up, Texas has become home and she is excited to serve the Texas Panhandle. Hiking the Palo Duro canyon and getting involved in the community is something she looks forward to.
Kayla is a recent Magna Cum Laude graduate from the Broadcast Journalism program at Texas Tech University where she served as a leader within their student journalist organization. Mentors describe Kayla as a “go getter” with a “nice delivery style.” Kayla was a multimedia journalist and anchor for MCTV and a reporter for The Hub during her time as a Red Raider. Kayla also had an opportunity to intern for CNN, an invaluable experience that allowed her to work with the best in the business and get exposed to top national stories.
