Brooke discovered Journalism when she was asked by an advisor at Amarillo College if she had ever thought about making that her major.

She decided to give it a try, and found that Journalism was her calling. Brooke became involved with the student newspaper at AC, The Ranger, writing and editing stories. She became very passionate about delivering the news to her peers.

When Brooke transferred to WTAMU she immediately got involved with the student newspaper there, The Prairie. She started out reporting, then in her 2nd semester she moved to the position of Assistant Editor, then Editor-in-Chief for a period of time.

In 2013, Brooke traveled to Asia for 2 weeks for a class called Travel Writing. This is where she learned about Journalistic practices in other countries including South Korea, North Korea and Japan. During her time in college, she also attended the TIPA convention twice and competed in live contests.

Brooke started working for ABC 7 Amarillo in July 2015 and thus far Brooke says it has been one of the most exciting experiences of her life.
