WT Lady Buffs set to host softball regional
Mon, 06 May 2013 19:14:37 GMT — The #8 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M will be making the third NCAA Postseason appearance in school history beginning this weekend as they host the South Central Region #2 Tournament at Schaeffer Park starting on Friday afternoon in Canyon, Texas.
The Lady Buffs (43-11) claimed the regionâ??s second overall seed and will face off with seventh seeded St. Edwardâ??s (30-21) on Friday night at 6 p.m. with third seeded Colorado School of Mines (40-5) and sixth seeded Angelo State (35-16) starting off the action at 3:30 p.m.
The other half of the South Central regional bracket will be played in Denton, Texas as the top seeded Pioneers of Texas Womanâ??s will face off with eighth seeded Incarnate Word while fourth seeded St. Maryâ??s will matchup with fifth seeded Midwestern State.
The championship field consists of 64 teams at 16 regional sites in double-elimination play. Regional competition will be held May 10-12 with the winners of the tournaments then meeting in a best-of-three Super Regional held on May 17-18. The finals will be held May 23-27 at James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia and will be hosted by the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Salem.
Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, May 7th and fans can order them online or by calling the WT Ticket Office at 806-651-1414, they can also be purchased in person by stopping by the office located inside the First United Bank Center. A ticket will get fans into all games in a single day with reserved seats ($12), general admission ($10) and youth ($5).
