Iwuchukwu has evolved into one of the most feared middle blockers not only in the Lone Star Conference but in all of NCAA Division II volleyball during her senior campaign in 2013. The Edmond, Oklahoma native has registered 341 kills (2.64/set) to go along with 27 digs while leading all of DII in total blocks with 210 (26 solo, 184 assisted) for an incredible average of 1.63 per frame to lead the nation. Iwuchukwu was named to the Daktronics All-South Central Region 1st Team as well as the AVCA All-South Central Region 1st Team last week, she was also named to the Capital One Academia All-America 1st Team earlier today.
To say that Lauren Bevan has made an immediate impact on the #6 Lady Buffs this season would be an understatement, the junior transfer from Yavapai CC ranks second on the team with 354 kills to average 2.77 per set while hitting .221 with 103 digs (0.80/set) to go along with 89 total blocks (2 solo, 87 assisted) for the WT defense that leads all of DII in blocks per set with 2.86 per set. Bevan was honored as a member of the AVCA All-South Central Region 1st Team and the Daktronics All-South Central Region 2nd Team.
Harton has stepped into a leadership role for the #6 Lady Buffs this season as she leads the team in kills with 362 to average 2.81 per set to go along with 438 digs (3.40/set) and 57 total blocks (8 solo, 49 assisted) as the Roswell, New Mexico native has led the Lady Buffs to the Lone Star Conference regular season and tournament titles while picking up LSC Tournament MVP honors. Harton was honored as a member of the AVCA All-South Central Region 1st Team and the Daktronics South Central Region 1st Team for her efforts on the court.
The Lady Buffs will take part in their second straight NCAA Division II Elite Eight to be held this weekend at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Lady Buffs will take on the East Region Champion Pioneers of LIU-Post on Thursday afternoon with first serve set for 12 p.m.
