The battled of the unbeaten in 3-4A opener

Randall Raiders prepare for big game Friday night

What a difference a year makes for the Randall Raiders. They've gone from the outhouse, to the penthouse under second year Head Coach Brian Wood.

But what a difference a decade makes for Caprock. The Longhorns are off to their first 3-0 start since 1997.

"The 3-0 start is great and everyone is happy about it, but were trying to win football games in district so this time of season is when it matters," said Caprock Head Coach Seth Parr.

"We tell our kids we're 0-0, all those wins don't mean anything other than gaining some much needed confidence, so hopefully we'll take our confidence and transfer that into district," said Randall Head Coach Brian Wood.

The players know the district season is long, and there are a lot of big games still to come. That's why they aren't focused on just this game.

"We focus game to game, anyone in 3-4A can have this district, and a loss can kill you, so one game isn't bigger than the other," said Randall QB Hunter Alford.

"We work hard, and focus on every game, and we go on a week by week basis," said Gerardo Ruiz Caprock QB.

Both Coaches say it's the confidence and the experience that have been the catalyst for both teams success this season as they head into this key marquee match up.

"It's going to be a tough battle, Caprock is at the top of the district's if you look at the numbers so far, we know it's going to be a battle all the way to the end," said Wood.

"Randall's improved and they want to do well like anyone else, so they're going to come in and do their job and expect to win, and we're going to do the same thing," said Parr.

If you're going to the game you might want to get to Kimbrough early to get a good seat, kickoff is at 7:30pm Friday Night.
