Share the Road Amarillo and the Panhandle (StR!) announces the 4th annual Run for Safer Roads, sponsored by Street Toyota. The run will be held on Sept. 13 at 8 a.m. at Amarillo College, 24th and Van Buren.
"We always get excited about our annual run," said StR! board president Garry Rich. "We're even more excited to introduce a 10K option this year for those wanting to push themselves a little further."
As in years past, the 5K route will run through the Plemons-Eakle neighborhood. The 10K route will continue across Washington and through the tree-lined streets of Wolflin.
"This is one of our largest visibility events of the year," Rich said. "It's important to show people that it's safe to use the road. It's even more important to remind drivers to be on the look out for those walking, running and riding on the streets each and every day."
"We are so grateful that Street Toyota and Scion stepped up again to sponsor this event, we couldn't do it without them," Rich said. Other sponsors include GetFit and Weis Podiatry.
"We just want everyone to come out and have a good time," Rich added. Registration forms can be downloaded from the groups Facebook page, or online at http://getmeregistered.com/ShareTheRoad5K. Participants can also sign up at packet pickup from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at GetFit, 1911 S. Georgia on Sept. 12.
The registration fee for the 5K is $25, the 10K fee is $30. There will also be a one-mile walk around Memorial Park again. Supporters who can't make the event can support the mission by being a "Sleepwalker" for $20.
