      Ryan Palmer comes up short

Amarillo native Ryan Palmer came up short Tuesday morning at sectional qualifying for the U.S. Open in the longest playoff of his career.

Both Palmer and Zack Fischer fought at the Lakewood Country Club in Dallas for two days playing 48 holes, but in the end it would be the 23yr old Fischer knocking down the winning putt on the 12th playoff hole to eliminate Ryan from contention.

Palmer who finished tied for 21st in the 2011 U.S. Open will be an alternate.
