Police, Patriots help Danny Nickerson celebrate birthday

Danny Nickerson's birthday celebration began with a parade of police to Gillette Stadium, where the New England Patriots helped him celebrate.

CNN -- A boy battling an inoperable brain tumor had an extra special birthday party with the help from the New England Patriots.

On the Patriots practice field Saturday, a special birthday present for Danny Nickerson, who turned 6 on Friday.

He got some quality time with Pats owner Bob Kraft, head coach Bill Belichick, and the whole team.

All he had asked for was birthday cards - and he got them from all over the world -including from the Texas Panhandle: Japan, Sweden, Italy, Iran. 100,000 cards and counting, but Danny got a lot more than just well wishes.

The special day began with a parade of police to Gillette Stadium.

"If we can provide another distraction, and a happy memory, something they can look back on and smile about, that's just our goal," said Sgt. Gerard McDonough.

Danny also got his own police car, a cake and a serenade from officers and the patriots.
