Panhandle power at state tournament
The Texas Panhandle girl's basketball teams are flexing their muscles at the UIL State Tournament down at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The biggest school representing the ABC7 viewing area, the Canyon Lady Eagles, dominated their semi-final game by beating Barbers Hill 66-39.
The Lady Eagles will be going for the four-peat Saturday at 3:00 pm.
The second biggest team represent the viewing area is the Canadian Lady Wildcats who take care of Goliad by more than doubling them up to the tune of 76-34.
The Lady Cats (31-3) will take on Buffalo (27-4) Saturday morning at 10:00 am.
The Panhandle Pantherettes advanced to their fourth state title game and their second in two years. The Ettes took care of Woden (35-4) by the final score of 62-37.
Panhandle will take on Martin's Mill (36-2) Saturday at 1:30 pm.
The team that kicked it all off Thursday morning was Nazareth. They also doubled up their semi-final opponent Slocum (25-10) 63-31.
Nazareth advances to their 24th state title game and will take on Dodd City (31-3) Saturday morning at 8:30.
