Some die hard cyclists took advantage of the nice autumn weather on Saturday, and competed in the Palo Duro Canyon marathon race.
It started at the Juniper Campground, were nearly two hundred cyclists ranging from beginner to professional, pedaled their mountain bikes over the sixteen and a half mile course, which incorporated every trail in the park.
Riders came from all over Colorado, Louisiana, and Texas to compete for cash prizes and medals.
Organizers say the rugged terrain of Palo Duro makes for a challenging and unique race.
"There's a lot of unique riding that some of the professional riders have never experienced before because they don't have the same type of conditions that Palo Duro has to offer, and there's a lot of people that don't even know Palo Duro exists, so this brings a unique set of people in that have never been here before and hopefully they'll return whenever they have their next chance," said Clinton Williams of Broadway Bikes.
Kordestani racing and Broadway Bikes put on the race which is part of a series of races here in Texas.
