CNN -- A group of would-be thieves picked the wrong gas station to rob.
As the security video shows, the robbers sat outside and waited for a gas station employee to return from the bank, jumping out of the SUV and rushing to the employee.
What they didn't know was that the employee behind the counter is a mixed martial arts fighter.
Mayura Dissanayaka ran outside and before the two robbers even saw him, he kicked one guy in the face and punched another.
He's trained in mixed martial arts for more than a decade and was named the MMA National Champion for five consecutive years in native country of Sri Lanka.
In seconds, the robbers begin their retreat, but leave one behind and Mayura detains him for police.
Police arrested 33-year-old Odell Mathis.
Mathis' partner and getaway driver may not have been caught, but customers of the Fuel Depot still call this a "feel good story."
