Lady Buffs set for NCAA first round matchup
CANYON, Texas (KVII) —
The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs are set to make their 24th appearance in the NCAA Division II tournament on Friday at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock.
According to WT's athletics website, the Lady Buffs (27-4 overall) earned their place in the tournament by claiming the Lone Star Conference's automatic bid by winning the LSC tournament championship with an 80-66 win over Tarleton State on Sunday. This mark's the program's fifth consecutive appearance in the Division II National Championship tournament.
WT boasts a 35-23 record in the NCAA Postseason, owning the sixth most win in Division II tournament history.
The No. 2-seeded Lady Buffs will open the South Central Region against No. 7-seed Arkansas Fort Smith, who is 20-10 this season.
