      Iwuchukwu Named a Daktronics First Team All-American

      West Texas A&M senior middle blocker Laura Iwuchukwu keeps adding awards to her already impressive resume as she was named a Daktronics First Team All-American announced on Wednesday afternoon.

      The Edmond, Oklahoma native has evolved into one of the most feared middle blockers not only in the Lone Star Conference but in all of NCAA Division II volleyball during her senior campaign in 2013. Iwuchukwu has registered 341 kills (2.64/set) to go along with 27 digs while leading all of DII in total blocks with 210 (26 solo, 184 assisted) for an incredible average of 1.63 per frame to lead the nation.

      Iwuchukwu was named to the Daktronics All-South Central Region 1st Team as well as the AVCA All-South Central Region 1st Team last week, earlier today she was named a member of the AVCA All-American 2nd Team while also picking up 1st Team Capital One Academic All-America honors.

      Iwuchukwu and fellow AVCA All-American Halie Harton will take part in a pre-tournament press conference tonight starting at 7:10 p.m. from the Double Tree Hilton Inn/US Celluar Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.       The Lady Buffs will take part in their second straight NCAA Division II Elite Eight to be held this weekend at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Lady Buffs will take on the East Region Champion Pioneers of LIU-Post on Thursday afternoon with first serve set for 12 p.m.
