Wed, 18 Sep 2013 00:22:52 GMT — The Amarillo Bulls begin their defense of the Robertson Cup National Championship tomorrow (Wednesday) when the 11th annual North American Hockey League Showcase opens in Blaine, Minnesota. In the first three years of attending the prestigious event, the Bulls have posted a record of 8-2-2, including three wins in each of the first two years. In their opening game, the Bulls will hit the ice against the Johnstown Tomahawks in their first- ever meeting at 8:15 pm at the Schwann Super Rink. The Tomahawks, from the North Division, have already played two regular season games and dropped both of them to the Port Huron Fighting Falcons. Fans can tune into the game live on CBS Sports Radio 1440, www.amarillobulls.com and on PPV courtesy of Fast Hockey beginning with the Wayland Baptist University Warm-Up Show at 8 pm. The voice of the Bulls Denis J. Puska has the call at 8:15 pm. On Thursday, itâ??s a Robertson Cup rematch when the Bulls take on the Central Division Bismarck Bobcats also at 8:15 pm. Itâ??s the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams and the second at the Showcase. The Bulls are 3-0 lifetime versus the Bobcats and 2-0 against the Central Division. Broadcast coverage begins with the Wayland Baptist University Warm-Up Show at 8 pm. Itâ??s an earlier start for the Bulls in the third game of the Showcase when they face the Kenai River Brown Bears for the first time at 1:30 pm. The Bulls have faced three previous Alaska teams, including the Fairbanks Ice Dogs twice at the Robertson Cup. Fans can tune in with the pre-game show at 1:15 pm. In the final game of the Showcase, the Bulls battle another North Division team, the Janesville Jets at 12:45 pm. The two teams have never faced one another. The Bulls are 3-0-1 versus North Division teams at the event. Pre-game show coverage begins at 12:30 pm on Saturday afternoon. Opening weekend for the Amarillo Bulls is 10 days away when they face the Odessa Jackalopes on Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 pm.
