Tue, 02 Jul 2013 21:01:42 GMT — David Peralta is on his way to California. After a stellar start to the season, the Amarillo Sox outfielder had his contract purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier today and is expected to be sent to the High-A California League. Peralta has spent the last two seasons in the American Association with Amarillo and the Wichita Wingnuts. In 140 American Association games, Peralta has hit. 338 with 11 home runs and 108 RBI. He has also tallied 44 doubles and nine triples. Last season, the Venezuelan-born outfielder hit .332 with three homers and 70 RBI for Wichita and he has performed even better in 2013. Peralta is hitting .352 with 14 doubles, four triples and 38 RBI. Perhaps more impressive, he has more than doubled his home run total from 2012, hitting eight through 42 games this season. The Diamondbacks will be the second major league organization of Peraltaâ??s career. He played for parts of two seasons with the St. Louis Cardinalsâ?? Rookie-level affiliate in Johnson City, TN. However, that was back in 2006-07. Arizona is now expected to send the 25-year old Peralta to play for the Visalia Rawhide.
