Banker's legacy of generosity continues

Ray M. Bain

First United Bank President and CEO Ray M. Bain is remembered for his generosity, a year after he passed away.

Bain succumbed to cancer July 2, 2013.

Many of his friends and family recall his love of community and his spirit of charity.

Friend Robert Wilhite says, "Everyone needs a Ray in their life."

Bain took the reins of the Dimmitt bank in 1987 and proceeded to make a major impact on the community.

The bank has expanded and Bain's philanthropy has been felt throughout the Panhandle, particularly at West Texas A&M University.

Those who knew Bain say he felt fundamentally a community bank depends on the folks it serves and the bank should promote a positive economic and moral environment.
