Say What?! Your thoughts on Syrian refugees in the U.S.
By September, the State Department is hoping to bring 10,000 more Syrian refugees into the country. We want to know how you feel about the incoming refugees and if you think this is a good or bad idea.
"I don't think it's a bad thing to have Syrian refugees come into the U.S., because if they can get help and live a better life then I don't think anyone should assume they're going to hurt us," said Libby Gibson.
"I don't think that's a good idea. We don't have enough jobs for us now, more or less, more people," said Carla Fisher.
"It's a good idea. If they really need refuge, then I think the United States should provide it for them," said Lindsay Vannozzi.
If the concern is terrorism with the incoming refugees, do you think there should be any special tests or limits to the people coming in?
"We should just promote acceptance of other people. I don't think they're going run any terrorist attacks just because of who they are," said Gibson.
"I don't think there's any way to filter them," said Fisher.
"I think the fear of terrorism has been kind of inflated for the past 15 or 20 years. I don't know if there's actually a valid fear there. I don't think there's truly that much of a threat of terrorism," said Vannozzi.
In the end, do you feel like there's enough protection within our country against terrorism?
"I do. I think there's protection where it needs to be like airports and everything," said Gibson.
"They didn't let our soldiers do the job they were supposed to do when they were overseas and they've tied their hands with the soldiers that are still there," said Fisher.
"Definitely. I think more than enough," said Vannozzi.
