Police search for suspect of high school shooting in Colorado Springs
WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - Police are looking for the suspect responsible for a shooting at Doherty High School in Colorado Springs. A police department spokesperson said the area was currently secure but the search for the suspect was ongoing.
School District 11 told Sinclair that the school district released a "shelter in place" order at 11 a.m. MT.
A representative from the school confirmed that one student was shot but their injuries are serious but not life-threatening. A second student was injured trying to run away from the gunshots and fell.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department Duty Lieutenant Twitter account, both parents of the victims were contacted.
Doherty High School's "Shelter in place has since been lifted and parents are permitted to pick up their students. The district ended the school day early. Doherty High School is the largest high school in District 11.
