DOC: Correction officer arrested for 11 felony counts

Department of Corrections officer Christopher Adams has been arrested on 11 felony counts including 1st degree rape.{ }(Oklahoma County Jail)

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections reports a corrections officer has been arrested for first-degree rape, two counts of forcible oral sodomy and eight counts of lewd, indecent acts with a child under 16.

Christopher Adams, 46, was taken into custody on Friday by the Oklahoma City police and DOC Fugitive Apprehension & Investigations agents. Adams is currently in the Oklahoma County Jail.

The OKCPD got in touch with DOC on August 1st, requesting his employment information. On October 12th the Oklahoma County district attorney notified DOC they were filing charges against Adams.

Adams was removed from contact with inmates, according to DOC Communications Director Matt Elliott.

"We have cooperated and will continue to assist in any way we can with this investigation," DOC director Joe M. Allbaugh said. "We are not aware of any other potential victims. If there are any, we encourage them to come forward."

Adams was employed by DOC in November of 2014 and served at the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center, as well as security for hospitalized inmates. A DOC release reports "In compliance with the Oklahoma Personnel and Merit rules, personnel action regarding Adams is pending."
