Amber Alert canceled: Delaware County children found safe in Arkansas

An Amber Alert has been issued for two Delaware County children believed to have been taken by their mother, a known drug user. Sarah Jane Lewis, 31, was last seen with 2-month-old Maxwell Keener and 20-month-old Adelyn Keener in Payne County. They've believed to be traveling in a silver 2002 Infiniti I-35 with Oklahoma license tag 107-FCR. (DPS)

DELAWARE COUNTY, Okla. (KTUL) -- An Amber Alert issued out of Delaware County has been canceled after the two children were found safe in Arkansas.

According to the sheriff's office, 2-month-old Maxwell Keener and 20-month-old Adelyn Keener were believed to have been taken by their mother, 31-year-old Sarah Jane Lewis.

The sheriff's office says Lewis said the children were in danger in Lewis' care because she's a known methamphetamine user.

They were last seen in Payne County.

The Amber Alert was canceled shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday after the children were found safe in Pineville, Ark.

According to the sheriff's office, Lewis was no taken into custody but the children were placed with DHS. Lewis told deputies she was trying to leave an abusive situation though they have no past reports.

The incident is under investigation.
