Zoo hosts fun activities

If you are looking for places to go and things to do this summer don't forget to stop by the Amarillo Zoo.

Open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. the zoo welcomes anyone and everyone to enjoy a summer day with the animals.

This July 4, 2013 holiday weekend many folks are visiting the zoo and having fun looking at and learning about all of the animals.

Amarillo Zoo Visitor Services Coordinator, Mike Boley said the zoo has several fun activities planned in the future.

In fact, on Saturday, July 13, 2013 people can help make animal enrichments.

"People can help us make special treats and toys for the animals and then they get a chance to see the animals enjoy it." said Boley "They'll be making stringed cereal for the birds and fruit baskets for the spider monkeys and lemurs."

The event will be free with general admission.

Another upcoming event is "Mom, I want a Snake," which is a program especially designed for parents of a child who wants a pet snake.

Zoo educators will help attendees learn the challenges and proper care of owning an exotic pet and guide them on ensuring they make a suitable choice.
