Youth orchestra dusts off instruments for new season

The Amarillo Youth Orchestra dusted off its violins and trumpets for its first rehearsal of the season

Education Coordinator Irna-Esther Borup said there are 11 new additions to the group, but about 90 percent of the orchestra is made up of returning musicians.

The program provides one-on-one training from members of the Amarillo Symphony.

"It's been real exciting work," Borup said. "They really don't get this kind of experience very often and this is a really great outlet for them."

The orchestra's concert will be April 13, 2014.
