Young pedestrian struck in crosswalk, sustained minor injuries

A juvenile female was taken to the hospital for minor injuries on the morning of April 9 after being struck by a vehicle while she was in a crosswalk.

At approximately 7:45 a.m. on April 9, Amarillo police officers responded to a motor vehicle versus pedestrian accident.

A juvenile was crossing Western at the intersection of Western and San Jacinto when she was struck by a red 2004 Saturn that was southbound on Western. The girl was conscious and able to speak to people at the scene, aand was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

The male driver of the vehicle was cited for failure to grant right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
