Xcel Energy said it's planning a short outage for Dumas customers on Friday, May 12 to make repairs to equipment.

According to the company, the outage will happen at midnight for about 30 minutes.

Xcel said repairs are needed at the Dumas 19th Street Substation, which cuts down voltage from the city's main transmission feed and sends the power at a lower voltage to other substations.

Equipment there could fail and cause a longer duration if repairs aren't made, according to the company.

The system will be de-energized so crews can safely make those repairs.
