Texas Xcel Energy customers will receive a one-time bill credit of $7.54 on their February usage bill.
This credit is due to Xcel's recent sale of a portion of a transmission line that extends from Hobbs, New Mexico to Midland, a substation near Midland, a portion of the Grassland-to-Borden transmission line and the Borden Substation to Sharyland.
Xcel said both New Mexico and Texas customers will benefit from these sales as they have benefited from them over the years. Credits for New Mexico customers have been accounted for in a recent base rate proposal that is pending approval by the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission.
The one-time credit will be applied to February usage bills and customers can expect the credit to be divided over two billing cycles. Xcel said $7.54 is the expected credit for residential customers who use an average of 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month. Commercial customers will see a refund based on the past 12-month usage.
