      WWII vet's wife honored during Memorial Day ceremony

      When he left for Korea, due to his dedication in pursuit of her hand in marriage, Clara Edwards vowed to wait for Sgt. 1st Class Joseph Gant to come home from war...no matter how long it took.

      President Obama paid tribute to a lasting love story involving a patient wife and her veteran husband.

      Clara Edwards made WWII vet Sgt. 1st Class Joseph Gant wait two years for her hand in marriage.

      When he left for Korea, due to his dedication in pursuit of her hand in marriage, she vowed to wait for him to come home from war...no matter how long it took.

      She waited 63 years. He was brought home in December.

      President Obama's speech took place during the wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
