West Texas A&M University is in a hiring freeze pending a review of administrative costs.
The freeze will apply to non-faculty administrative staff position and commenced May 9.
There may be some positions that absolutely must befilled for the university to ensure the welfare and safety of staff and students such as university police, medical services, safety personnel. Additionally, there are positions that are mission critical and essential for the future growth of the university - for example, admission counselors, academic advisors, financial aid personnel.
For positions for which there has already been made an offer to hire, the university will stand by their commitment.
Positions exempted from the hiring freeze are those 100 percent funded from external grants/contracts.
