Wreck victim dies from injuries

65-year-old Jackie Maloney Keeney has died from injuries she received in a wreck on Interstate 40.

According to Amarillo Police Department, officers responded to a wreck in the 7700 block of west Interstate 40 at approximatly 2:36 a.m. Wednesday morning. Responding officers found a 2006 Nissan Altima driven by Keeney on fire in the median after striking a trailer.

APD said that the Altima struck an enclosed box trailer that was being hauled by a Freightliner driven by 48-year-old Russell Pringle. After the impact the Nissan left the road stopping in the median and caught fire.

Keeney was air lifted to Lubbock for treatment however APD said that she died from the injuries that she received. An autopsy has been ordered for Keeney.

The incident is still under investigation by Amarillo Police Department's Traffic Investigation Squad.
