Woman killed trying to cross I40

UPDATE: APD has identified the woman killed in this incident as 32-year-old Crystal Nicole Beagle from Borger. The colliision is still under investigation.
Monday April 8, 2013 at approximately 5:57 p.m. Amarillo emergency responders were dispatched to the 3200 block of east Interstate 40.
When officers arrived, they found a woman had been running southbound across the westbound lanes of Interstate 40. According to Amarillo Police Department, other vehicles had seen the woman trying to cross and slowed down.
However, one driver did not see the woman running across the street. 48-year-old James Grayson Davis was driving a Dodge Dakota when the woman ran in front of the vehicle.
Police said the woman died at the scene due to injuries received during the collision.
At the time of the news release from Amarillo Police Department it is not known why the woman was trying to cross the Interstate. Investigators do not know if alcohol or other substances were a factor and an autopsy has been ordered.
Amarillo Police Department's Traffic Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
