Woman jumps out of moving car, sustains life threatening injuries

A woman was transported to a local hospital after jumping out of a moving vehicle.

UPDATE 7/4/14: The passenger, Florinda Marez, died Thursday evening as a result of her injuries. The incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE: 7/3/2013: The Traffic Investigations Squad has identified the woman as Florinda Marez, 19. She remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The Amarillo Police Department indicated she had jumped out of a moving vehicle during a dispute with the driver.

On July 2 just after 4 a.m., Amarillo Police Officers were dispatched to Lindberg and Wilson on a subject that jumped out of a moving vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 19-year-old woman had jumped from a car. She was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Jabarel Trevel Mills, was driving westbound in the 1700 block of Lindbergh in a 1999 Nissan Xterra.

The name of the injured party is being withheld pending notification of kin.

The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
