West Texas A&M students to spend night in shacks

West Texas A&M University campus ministries united for their 5th Annual Give-a-Goat/Shack-a-Thon.
The WT Alliance, a coalition of campus ministries from WTAMU, partnered with the Christian Relief Fund of Amarillo to help refugees struggling in the Kenyan region of Turkana.
Last year, the WT Alliance helped CRF purchase goats for those in Turkana, helping to sustain the impoverished nation. Through Give-a-Goat, the Alliance hopes to donate another large number of goats for milk and meat to local tribes.
The Give-a-Goat fundraiser encourages residents of Canyon and Amarillo to donate money towards the purchase of goats. Each $50 donation covers veterinarian coasts, dairy equipment, and goat delivery.
The WT Alliance, and students from various campus organizations, kicked off Shack-a-Thon as a display of poverty. On Wednesday morning, students constructed shacks from cardboard and wooden pallets. They will spend the night in the shacks until Thursday morning at 8 a.m.
Students invite residents to view the shacks and attend a special program at 7:30 p.m., April 17th near the east steps of the Old Main Building.
