WBU Flying Queens honored by Women's Basketball Hall of Fame



W

ayland Baptist's Women's Basketball Flying Queens team will be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Saturday, June 8 in Knoxville, Tennessee for the all-time longest college winning streak.



The Wayland Baptist Flying Queens, from 1953-1958, won 131 games in a row. Now, 79-year

-old Lometa Odom, with her teammates and 93-year-old coach Caddo Matthews, are traveling to Tennessee on Thursday, June 6 to be honored as "Trailblazers of the Game".

he Flying Queens are only the 4th "Trailblazer of the Game" team to be given the special recognition.

I'm getting real anxious to see some of those girls because some of them I haven't seen since I graduated

," said Odom.



"S

ome of them I haven't seen since I graduated or since they graduated. I'm looking forward to getting

myself
into some old times."
