W ayland Baptist's Women's Basketball Flying Queens team will be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Saturday, June 8 in Knoxville, Tennessee for the all-time longest college winning streak.
The Wayland Baptist Flying Queens, from 1953-1958, won 131 games in a row. Now, 79-year -old Lometa Odom, with her teammates and 93-year-old coach Caddo Matthews, are traveling to Tennessee on Thursday, June 6 to be honored as "Trailblazers of the Game".
T he Flying Queens are only the 4th "Trailblazer of the Game" team to be given the special recognition.
" I'm getting real anxious to see some of those girls because some of them I haven't seen since I graduated ," said Odom. "S ome of them I haven't seen since I graduated or since they graduated. I'm looking forward to getting myself into some old times."
V oting for the " T railblazers of the Game" honor is based on factors like moral character, sportsmanship, and contributions to the game.
