A boil water notice has been issued for Perryton water customers as a result of a water main break in Perryton.
Some residents in the City of Perryton are experiencing low water pressures due to a water main break in the 2200 block of south Jefferson Street.
In a news release officials said the affected areas include Wheatheart West, Bent Tree and Westwood Additions of Perryton but could include the entire city as officials assess the situation and work to repair the leak.
Texas Commission of Environmental Quality requires each city to inform residents to boil water prior to consumption. To boil water properly for consumption and ensure the destruction of harmful bacteria and microbes follow these tips. Bring water to a vigorous rolling boil and boil for two minutes. Water customers can also purchase bottled water instead of boiling water prior to consumption.
City water officials say they will notify customers when it is no longer necessary to boil water or find other suitable water sources.
