Close to 100 volunteers are needed for the annual "Boo at the Zoo" at the Amarillo Zoo.

According to the Amarillo Zoo, BOO Crew volunteer jobs include costumed characters, handing out candy, supervising games and crafts, serving as area monitors and "other fun positions."

The Zoo says volunteers must be 16 years of age and sign up no later than Oct. 24. Volunteers can apply online at zoo.amarillo.gov or call (806)381-5605. An orientation class will be held for volunteers on Thursday, Oct. 19 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The orientation is not mandatory, but encouraged.

BOO at the Zoo is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 29 from noon to 5 p.m. Volunteers may work one or more of the event dates.

"This is a great opportunity for local clubs, civic groups, businesses, sororities, fraternities and other community groups and individuals to come out and have a fun time," Amarillo Zoo Visitor Services Coordinator Mike Boley said.
