Video surveillance catches Christmas vandals in the act

We've all seen it, especially around Christmas: reindeer that have been compromised, Christmas lights that have been unplugged or decorations moved around. But most of us probably haven't seen it caught on video surveillance tape.

When Amarillo homeowner, Brad Krusa's Christmas display was vandalized, on more than one occasion, he decided to do something about it.

"At that point in time," Brad said, "we realized we were going to get some video surveillance just in case we needed to use it again."

Sure enough, Friday night, December 16, the perpetrators struck again.

Brad had video surveillance proof of what appeared to be two teenage boys tackling his inflatable decorations.

"He actually decided to be a little bit more malicious this time went up to one of the inflatables with a knife and pretended to stab the knife into the inflatable multiple times," he said.

But this time, Brad was ready. When he heard them outside, he leapt into action chasing the vandals down the street -- barefoot, in shorts.

"It's unfortunate enough that I wasn't able to get the door open quick enough or I'd of had some young children by the coat tails pretty quickly," Brad laughed.

What he did have in his hands though, was a pair of black and grey, size nine Nikes, left behind by one of the boys. But that's not all , he made sure the video went where all priceless videos go : YouTube.

"After I'd kind of come down from the adrenaline of chasing the kids down the street and had their shoes, I figured it'd be a little fun to have some jokes at their expense hopefully," said Brad.

S o, the joke's on you, you Christmas vandals.

E ven if he didn't catch you the first go-round , you can bet your bottom dollar if you tackle any of Brad's snowmen again, you won't get off scott free.

"You're not going to break Christmas spirit ," added Brad. " We're going to continue to put stuff up. I'll be ready and if you do decide to mess up and I catch you, we're going to have a little talk."
