United Supermarket officials have announced the construction of a new store in Amarillo on 34th and Soncy Road.
The 55,000 square foot store will be the flagship store for the "next generation" of United Supermarkets.
"This store will be the first United location that reflects our new brand strategy," Schierbaum said. "This store is a bold statement and truly represents the United Supermarkets brand and what we stand for. The Amarillo community is so important to our company, and we believe this store will be a positive expression of the strong relationship we have with our Amarillo guests."
The newest addition will be the eighth location for the company in Amarillo. It is the first new store since 2002.
According to the news release, the store will occupy a 19-acre site that United recently purchased and will include a United Express Convenience Store.
Some new features to be incorparted into the design of the new store will feature a large produce department and an indoor-outdoor dining area capable for 185 guests. The convenience store will have six pumps as well as a drive- thru window.
Construction on the new store is set to begin immediately and the new location is targeted to open this summer.
