      UIL announces high school realignment

The UIL biennial realignment for Texas high schools announced today by the organization and for the most part, the League was kind to Panhandle schools.

After the last realignment that left Tascosa as the lone, large class school in the area, lobbying began to help the schools in West Texas and the Panhandle, especially for mid-week travel.

Those lobbying efforts paid off and with new classes now in effect, Amarillo metro schools will not be travelling as far as in the past, at least for district football, basketball and the rest of the sports.

Here's a look at all the new districts.
