The Amarillo District of the Texas Department of Transportation will be repairing bridges and pavement in Amarillo Thursday. TxDOT said these repairs will require the closure of certain lanes on Amarillo roadways and will result in traffic congestion and delays.
According to TxDOT, crews will work on pavement repairs at Washington on Interstate 40 westbound. Crews will close down the right lane on westbound Interstate 40 before the Interstate 27 Interchange and traffic will be diverted into the center and left lanes of westbound Interstate 40. Traffic just before Washington Street in the center and left lanes of westbound Interstate 40 will shift to the left lane only. TxDOT said the westbound ramp off Interstate 40 to Washington Street will also be closed. If you normally use this exit, TxDOT said you will need to use the Crockett Street exit just west of Washington Street.
As crews are working on the above repairs, TxDOT will also be conducting bridge joint repairs on the Pierce Street southbound overpass over Fillmore Street. Traffic will be shifted to the left lane only on the overpass as crews complete the repair work.
TxDOT expects the repairs to be complete by late Thursday afternoon. TxDOT suggests that motorist expecting to travel through the affected areas seek another route until repairs are complete.
