The holiday season is finally here and along with Thanksgiving comes traveling chaos. If you have to go on the roadways to go spend time with loved ones, we have a few tips you should keep in mind to get to your destination safely.
1. Keep your vehicle up to date
Make sure the maintenance of your car is fine. Take your car into a mechanic before hitting the roads to ensure its stability. Things you should check is your oil, and other fluids as well as air pressure or anything else your car may need.
2. Be prepared for anything
We would all like to hope you get to your destination without any problems. However, things do happen. Try and keep water and snacks in your car in case it does break down or you have any other car problems. Keep a list of contacts you can call in case of emergencies.
3. Keep your cool
Traveling this time of year can be very stressful. With the high volume of traffic on the roadways, getting to where you need to go can create a lot of road rage. Try and stay calm and keep your cool. Amarillo police say they are stepping up patrols this holiday season. They will be out and about patrolling for speed and seat belt violations along with impaired drivers.
4. Secure your home
Make sure your house is locked up before you leave. Donâ??t be too much in a rush that you forget to properly secure your home. According to the FBI, almost 400,000 burglaries take place in the United States between November and December each year. You do not want to be one of them this holiday season.
5. Most importantly- Enjoy your holiday
Thanksgiving is a time for spending time with loved ones. Make sure you enjoy this special holiday. Have fun and be safe
