Traffic stops leads to drug seizure, two arrests
CONWAY (KVII) —
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers stopped a vechicle eastbound on Interstate 40, seized 90 pounds of marijuana on Saturday, and arrested two men, according to a DPS news release.
At 4:39 p.m., a trooper stopped a 1999 Dodge Durango near Conway, on a traffic violation. The trooper then discovered vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana in the rear cargo area. The drugs are valued at $546,000.
Virginia Pulido-Griego, 46, and Juan Lombera-Bustamante, 35, both of Clearlake, Calif., were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Pulido-Griego and Lombera-Bustamante were transported and booked into the Carson County jail.
The drugs allegedly were being transported from California to Kansas.
Also over the weekend DPS troopers stopped a 2000 Nissan Xterra traveling east on I-40 near Conway and discovered multiple plastic-wrapped bundles of methamphetamine inside the spare tire. The methamphetamine is valued at $1 million.
