Together, the Panhandle remembers
Sun, 11 Sep 2011 06:59:35 GMT — September 11, 2001.It's a day that will always be etched into our minds. It's a day that no one will ever forget.Life changed for many Americans that day. Almost 3,000 innocent Americans lost their lives when hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center Twin Towers, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field.America had been attacked by terrorists.Instantly, America banded together; banded together to lean on each other's shoulders in a time of fear. The fear transformed into hope in the coming days as our country vowed to never let a tragedy like this happen again. This country saw a patriotism like it hadn't seen in decades. Flags could be seen from nearly everywhere and yellow Support our Troops ribbons were worn by millions.America was changed forever.Thousands of troops went overseas to fight for our freedoms. It is a thankless duty.To those who have fought and who continue to fight " We thank you. Now, 10 years later, we can remember and honor those whose lives were lost.We can reflect on how our own lives were changed.
