Do you love chicken fried steak? If so, you are in luck!
Today is Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day! The Texas House of Representatives designated Oct. 26 as the day where we would celebrate the delicious steak fried like chicken. House Resolution 1419, sponsored by Rep. Ralph Sheffield of Temple, was adopted on May 30, 2011.
According to reporternews.com, the roots of the chicken fried steak may be with the early Texas cowboys and pioneers.
"They developed a process of tenderizing, breading and frying a tough, mediocre cut of beef to elevate it into a succulent meat," said the report. "The technique is similar to frying chicken, hence the name."
