LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Storms in north and west parts of Texas packing winds topping 80 mph have left behind hail and power outages but no immediate reports of anyone hurt.
Oncor had nearly 30,000 customers without power Thursday - mainly in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The National Weather Service says the Lubbock area had 82 mph winds. Forecaster Gary Skwira says winds of 84 mph were reported near Wolfforth. Friona (free-OHN'-uh) had hail the size of baseballs.
Part of the roof of Lubbock Heart Hospital was blown off. Patients were moved to other parts of the hospital.
Several hundred Lubbock Power & Light customers lost electricity. Xcel Energy customers in southeastern New Mexico and the Texas South Plains also had outages - including nearly 1,200 Thursday in Lubbock.
