Tonight, the cast of musical drama Texas will host a free Memorial Day ceremony and celebration featuring a presentation of the colors and a patriotic salute. Tonightâ??s show will kick off a new season of an organization that is ready to move on after tragedy struck last year.
The musical drama Texas will return to the stage in Palo Duro Canyon this Friday. The 49th season of this show that tells the story of the Panhandleâ??s heritage will be the first season back since the death of five cast and crew members who were tragically killed in a car accident last year. Brian Kuhnert, who plays Colonel Henry, told Pronews 7 wounds are beginning to heal at the organization, and that the show continues to evolve in many exciting ways, including improving the historical accuracy of the drama, and new dance numbers.
â??Anytime an event happens like that, itâ??s always a little difficult to come back,â?? said Brian Kuhnert. â??Thereâ??s a sense that things have changed, but then once we all come back and we get into the theater, get into the costumers, and hear the music, hear the lines, then thereâ??s a sense of normalcy, and through that normalcy things start to heal and become real again.â??
Tonightâ??s free Memorial Day concert is at 9pm at the pioneer Amphitheatre in the Palo Duro Canyon. The Hereford ROTC will present the colors and the show with finish off with a fireworks finale.
