      Texas Rangers investigate deputy-involved shooting

      Texas Rangers are investigating a deputy-involved shooting that took place the evening of June 17.

      UPDATE 6/27: The name of the suspect in the deputy-involved shooting in Gray County is Waylon Howard.

      The Gray County deputies that responded are Joel Craig Skinner and Daniel DeHerrera.

      ORIGINAL:

      Texas Rangers are investigating a deputy-involved shooting that took place the evening of June 17.

      On June 17, just before 7:30 p.m., two Gray County deputies responded to a call in Southeast Pampa off of Highway 60 and County Road 9.

      When deputies arrived, they came in contact with a suspect who was armed. The officers feared for their safety and fired upon the suspect. The suspect was wounded and taken to Texas Northwest Hopsital.

      Deputies are now on leave with pay while theTexas Rangers investigate the incident.
