Obama says the American economy is poised for growth and the nation must budget smarter. Governor Rick Perry was there to greet the president when Air Force One touched down today.
FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - A military judge has refused to delay the trial of the man charged in the Fort Hood rampage. Major Nidal Hasan's attorneys today sought to delay his trial to September, arguing jurors might be influenced by media coverage comparing the Boston Marathon bombing suspects to Hasan. But a judge said no. Jury selection will start May 30th.
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - People have been allowed to return to their homes following a chemical leak in Lubbock. Crews at an agriculture company have been transferring corrosive hydrogen chloride from the leaking tank. A fire marshal says the transfer could take two days.
HOUSTON (AP) - Houston is getting its fourth area code next year. The 713, 281 and 832 codes are running out of numbers and the Public Utility Commission says the new code -- 346 -- will be used starting in July of 2014.
