EAGLE PASS, Texas (AP) - More areas that flooded in a South Texas border county have reopened after weekend storms dumped 17 inches of rain on Eagle Pass. Maverick County and Eagle Pass leaders yesterday announced that Thompson Road has been inspected and reopened. Officials say the Red Cross will continue to partner with the Salvation Army to provide food and shelter to residents at Eagle Pass Junior High School.
DURANT, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma authorities say a Texas man has drowned in the Red River. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 29-year-old Enrique Amador of Denison, Texas, was swimming with friends yesterday when he went missing. Searchers recovered Amador's body about two hours later.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A San Antonio dermatologist faces up to 20 years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a female patient. The penalty phase continues today for 61-year-old Dr. Calvin Day. He was convicted yesterday of assaulting the victim in August 2010.
KATY, Texas (AP) - A lifeguard at a Houston-area pool has drowned while swimming laps. The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office says foul play is not suspected in the death of 19-year-old Dustin Kruthaupt. Officials say the drowning happened Saturday afternoon at the Rosewood Recreation Center in the Katy area.
