SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Prosecutors in South Texas have dropped a murder charge against a man whose best friend died in a 2012 crash during an apparent joyride. The San Antonio Express-News reports prosecutors aren't sure 20-year-old Sean Korman was driving. The rollover wreck killed 18-year-old Zachary Wendell.
GARLAND, Texas (AP) - Authorities say a Dallas-area man possibly wearing headphones while walking near some railroad tracks has died after being hit by a train. Garland police identified the victim today as 57-year-old Clarence Hodge of Garland. Police believe Hodge didn't hear the train approach as he tried to cross the tracks.
HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - A former Texas Tech doctoral student is set to be executed this week in the death of an associate dean at the university. Forty-one-year-old Vaughn Ross is scheduled for lethal injection tomorrow for the death of 53-year-old Douglas Birdsall. Ross' attorneys now hope the U.S. Supreme Court will block the execution.
UNDATED (AP) - More rain is expected for most of Texas. A flash flood watch remains in effect all day today for the Guadalupe Mountains, Permian Basin and Big Bend. The National Weather Service predicts up to an additional three inches of rain for those areas.
