DALLAS (AP) - A man who pleaded guilty to the murder of a girl riding in her family's car when his vehicle slammed into it has been sentenced to 99 years in prison. Angel Palomo was fleeing a robbery. Angeles Ipina suffered massive head injuries in the December crash and later died.
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A Dallas man who was found with a list of credit card numbers after being arrested for trying to use a fraudulent credit card has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Mikel Adams was convicted of trafficking in counterfeit credit cards. Prosecutors say about 638 cardholder victims were identified in the scheme.
PLANO, Texas (AP) - Plano-based J.C. Penney says the largest lender in the clothing industry is still supporting deliveries from its suppliers. The department store operator also stressed it has ample liquidity to run its business. J.C. Penney shares jumped 8 percent in premarket trading this morning. The retailer anticipates closing the quarter with about $1.5 billion in cash.
NEW YORK (AP) - Attorneys for Plano-based J.C. Penney and Macy's will be back in court today to present closing arguments in a dispute over a partnership with the Martha Stewart brand. The case centers on whether Macy's Inc. has exclusive rights to sell certain Martha Stewart merchandise, including bath items and kitchenware.
